Off Season Scouting
The weather finally broke and warm temperatures moved in across Northwest Missouri. As the snow begins to melt, many hunters are spending their days shed hunting in hopes of finding bone that bucks who made it through the fall hunting season have dropped on hunting properties across the Midwest. Checking trail cameras this time of year can update a hunter on whether the bucks have actually dropped their antlers or if they are still wearing head gear.
I continue to get multiple pictures of these gray foxes on the cuddeback. I am guessing the foxes continue to hang around my trail camera because of the deer feed/attractant that I am putting down for the deer. This attractant also attracts mice. I know this because during this past winter, several mice had chewed holes in the bags that I had stored in my garage. I'm sure the foxes are feeding on the mice that are nibbling on the deer attractant.
After checking some trail cameras, we headed out to check a farm for some sheds and check for deer sign located around some standing corn that has been left for the deer to eat in the winter.
